Dr. Anju Prajapati Maharjan is the principal dentist at Village Dental Clinic. She completed her dental education at Tribhuvan University in Kathmandu, moved to Sydney, qualified with the Australian Dental Council, and went on to open the practice's first clinic. She now heads a clinical team of eight across the group's two Sydney practices — a team that includes a dental prosthetist who makes and fits dentures on site.

Education & qualification

How she came to practise dentistry in Australia

Dr. Maharjan trained in Nepal and qualified to practise in Australia. Two years separated her arrival in Sydney from her qualification.

Orthodontics and fixed braces are not offered here. Where teeth need straightening, the practice uses Invisalign clear aligners, which are removable and worn over the teeth rather than bonded to them.

Outside the clinic, Dr. Maharjan spends her time with her children, cycling, and cooking. Her husband, Amar Maharjan, manages the practice — he moved across from an IT career when the first clinic opened, and the two have run Village Dental together ever since.
